There has been mounting criticism waged towards the Guggenheim museum’s upcoming exhibition “Art and China after 1989: Theater of the World,” and the way in which three works included in the show utilize live animals.
The outrage over animal cruelty spurred multiple petitions to have the work removed from the exhibition. As of Monday, the Guggenheim has decided to pull the works.
As the NYTimes article (below) mentions, this instance is one of a few in recent months where public protest effects change in the institution. What are your thoughts?
